Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP)

For Skin & Hair

Also known as the ‘Vampire facelift’.

PRP is a safe and natural treatment for rejuvenating the skin, especially the under eye area as well as the face and body.

It utilises your own platelets in your blood to regenerate new skin giving a smoother texture.

Platelets contain growth factors and these growth factors stimulate cellular healing and generation of new tissue such as collagen and elastin.

PRP can rejuvenate the skin, improving its elasticity and tone and thickening the skin in areas such as the neck, chest and eyes. Stretch marks and scars can be improved as well as ageing and sun damaged skin. As well as skin, it also has a strengthening and thickening effect on hair growth.

Improvements in skin texture and elasticity can be seen by week 4-6 and continue to improve over the following months.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is a transformative treatment targeting various skin issues, especially around delicate areas like the eyes, cheeks, midface, and jawline. It is particularly beneficial for fine lines, wrinkles, thinning skin on the neck, and signs of aging on the neck and décolletage. Additionally, PRP can improve areas of sun damage, offering a rejuvenated appearance. The treatment harnesses your body’s natural healing mechanisms, using growth factors from your plasma to increase collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production, which are crucial for maintaining youthful, resilient skin.

PRP therapy for the skin involves extracting a small sample of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma enriched with platelets, and then injecting this concentrated plasma into your skin. These platelets release growth factors that trigger cell proliferation, stimulate tissue repair, and promote the production of essential skin components like collagen and elastin. This process not only enhances the skin’s overall appearance but also improves its texture and firmness, offering a natural, youthful glow.
PRP is an excellent option for individuals experiencing hair loss or thinning, as it utilizes the growth factors in your blood to stimulate hair follicles and promote new hair growth. This treatment is effective for various hair loss conditions, providing essential nutrients and increasing blood supply to the hair follicles, thereby enhancing hair density and texture.
PRP therapy has shown promising results in treating excessive hair loss, hair thinning, and pattern baldness in both men and women. It works by activating dormant hair follicles, encouraging the regrowth of hair, and improving the overall health of the scalp and hair.
For both skin and hair rejuvenation, I recommend an initial series of 3 PRP treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. To maintain the rejuvenating effects, a follow-up session every 12 months is advisable. Each session typically lasts between 45-60 minutes, making it a convenient option even for those with busy schedules.

The initial improvements from PRP treatments are usually visible at 4-6 weeks, with continued enhancements over the following months as your body produces more collagen and the skin or hair quality improves. The full effects offer a smoother, tighter skin appearance and more robust hair growth.

While PRP involves injections, I ensure patient comfort by applying a topical anesthetic. The treatment is generally well tolerated, with many patients experiencing only minor discomfort during the procedure.

Post-treatment, some patients might notice redness, slight swelling, or bruising, particularly in the treated skin areas. These symptoms typically subside quickly, allowing most individuals to resume their normal activities soon after the procedure.
PRP is not suitable for everyone. It’s contraindicated in individuals with active infections, low platelet count, coagulation disorders, ongoing anti-coagulation therapy, recent cancer diagnoses, autoimmune diseases, severe hypercholesterolemia, anemia, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After your PRP session, avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours. For the first day, rinse your face with water only and steer clear of anti-inflammatory medications, which might hinder the healing process. To support recovery, avoid strenuous activities, excessive heat, and direct sun exposure for the initial 72 hours, ensuring the best possible outcome from your PRP treatment.
